Inductors

Falcon components, originally called Falcon Acoustics, has been supplying crossover inductors since the early 1970s. We were the first company to offer inductors made using self-bonding enamelled copper wire; a manufacturing method that we still use today. With capacity to produce tens of thousands of inductors per month, all wound by hand under the watchful eye of Sue Oakley, head coil winder, we are able to satisfy the demands of the biggest mass producer to the one-off hobbyist alike.

We produce several standard values which can be found on the ordering list below. In addition, we are able to manufacture any custom value in any quantity to customer's requirements. We are able to select inductance tolerances down to 0.5% by special request. All our inductors are RoHS compliant.

Any non-standard value can be wound, priced at the next highest value. For example, for a 4.1mH coil, the price is as 4.5mH. Values above 10mH can be manufactured in many of the series'. Please add the "Additional mH" figure to the 10mH price for each milli-henry of extra inductance required. It is not always possible to manufacture certain high values in a given series because the extra copper may not fit on the core. Therefore, if ordering values not listed on the above table, please Contact Us first, and we will be happy to advise.

Standard tolerance is ±10%. Special tolerances are available:
±5%: List price +25%
±2%: List price +50%

Inductor Ordering Guide

Inductors are ordered in the following manner. Please note that a value such as 2.5mH is expressed in the form of 2M5, where M becomes the decimal point. Integer values of inductance, such as 10mH, are expressed in the form of 10M0, with a trailing zero after the M (the decimal point).

For example, to order a 4.5mH SP056 ±10% inductor, the part number is SP056-4M5/10.
To order a 10mH AC125 ±2% inductor, the part number is AC125-10M0/2.

Custom inductors are ordered in the same way, for example to order a 4.25mH SSP125 ±5% inductor, please quote SSP125-4M25/5
