Capacitors

Falcon offers a wide range of capacitors in varying types and values. Primarily, we stock ranges of non-polarised electrolytic capacitors from Alcap, and very high quality tight-tolerance polypropylene capacitors from Solen. Both types are extremely suitable for use in loudspeaker crossover networks; the Solen polypropylene capacitors giving a wider dynamic range and improved sound according to some listeners. The Solen capacitors also find uses as replacements for older (and sometimes explosive) paper-in-oil capacitors found in hi-fi and valve amplification equipment.

We are also able to supply polyester, radial polypropylene, metallised polyester and electrolytic capacitors from an extensive stock of components. Please Contact Us with your requirements.

Capacitor Ordering Guide

Capacitors are ordered in the following manner. Please note that a value such as 4.7uF is expressed in the form of 4U7, where U becomes the decimal point. Integer values of capacitance, such as 25uF, are expressed in the form of 25U0, with a trailing zero after the U (the decimal point).

For example, to order a 4.7uF 400V Solen capacitor, the part number is S-4U7-400.
To order a 60uF 100V Alcap, the part number is A-60U0-100.

Please note that all Solen capacitors are 400V ±5% and all Alcap capacitors are 100V ±10% (unless otherwise stated in the 'value' column).
